Erlanger Health System employees recently recognized Carlene Morgan as our January GEM Story Recipient. Carlene was presented with a Gold Class Employee of the Month certificate and a gift card by Erlanger CAO Gregg Gentry, left, and Jonathan Darling, Sodexo general manager, right.
Carlene’s GEM Story reads: “Recently, Carlene did something to help a visitor that definitely exceeded expectations. We had a young boy in the cafeteria whose parents had been badly hurt. A case worker from an outside agency was with him and trying to comfort him. The boy was very upset and crying because he was scared and worried. The case worker was trying to calm him down but it wasn’t working. Carlene is a cashier, and was very busy with people in her line waiting to check out. As soon as her line was down, Carlene called the boy over to her station. She pulled a stool out for the boy and she took his hand in hers and let him push in the orders of the people in line. In just a minute, Carlene had the boy laughing. She just kept talking to him to keep his mind off his parents. Carlene knew just what to say and do to help this child.”
Carlene’s actions reflected our core values of excellence, appreciation, respect and trust. The story submitted to recognize Carlene is a great example of going above and beyond to serve our customers.
Thanks you Carlene for making us Erlanger Proud!
